If you’re starting on a new project, it may feel like you’re going to need a whole warehouse of machinery to get it done. There can be many little jobs that need to be completed on one work site: digging, drilling, moving earth, levelling… You’re going to need a bunch of different machines, right? Well, that’s not necessarily the case. Many of Ryno Hire’s machines come with attachments that you can add on to your rental period with your equipment. This means one machine can actually do a number of different things (like some of the aforementioned tasks). On top of that, attachments are a cost-effective way to include a wider variety of equipment to your assembly of tools. Let’s look at some of the other benefits of adding attachments onto your rental period.
The Benefits of Adding Attachments
- Saves time and money. As we’ve mentioned, you’ll be saving yourself money by getting multiple attachments rather than several different machines. Furthermore, attachments are super easy to combine into one rental period (and transport home) so that you can knock off more jobs at once and save time down the track for other important tasks.
- No licence necessary. You don’t need any fancy licence to operate Ryno Hire’s machinery, and the sentiment stands with our attachments. We think you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll get the hang of operating these attachments, and thereafter you’ll have learnt a new skill!
- Expert advice available. If you’re ever unsure of how to operate a machine or its available attachments, you can rest assured that a helpful Ryno Hire team member is only a phone call away. Ryno Hire are here to provide support to you throughout your hire with demonstrations and plenty of information for you to feel comfortable with your equipment.
So, now that we understand some of the main benefits of getting attachments, let’s look at what the attachments actually are. Below is a list of some of the main attachments that Ryno Hire provides with many of their machines – it’s important to note that not every machine will be compatible with every attachment. If you’re ever unsure of what goes with what, check-in with the team at Ryno Hire.
Hydraulic Auger Drivers + Drills
These are suitable for most machines, such as our Kubota and Bobcat excavators, Bobcat & Kanga loaders, and even some Yanmar & Hitachi excavators if you already have your own, making them extremely resourceful. Auger drivers are a standard attachment on any worksite due to their versatility, especially when it comes to a landscaping project. These drivers can drill the perfect sized hole for posts, trees, fences, and whatever else you need it for. You can even use it for other tasks such as dislodging rocks or breaking up hard earth. Some important things to consider when picking an auger driver include: what size hole do you need? Ensure you know the diameter and depth to get the right size drill, taking into any allowances needed for concrete or filler that needs to go in the hole along with the post. Also, what is the condition of the soil? If it’s too hard, you might be in need of something to break through harder materials – that brings us to our next attachment.
Hydraulic Rock Breakers
As the name suggests, this attachment is great for breaking up rock or harder ground. How hard of ground, you ask? Well, you can even use our hydraulic rock breaker attachment on concrete or bricks if you’re demolishing the whole foundation. These are a great attachment to add with excavators, as one job typically follows the other. As such, these can be added onto your hire with a majority of our excavators.
Hydraulic Rock Grabs
Another attachment designed for Ryno Hire’s excavators is the hydraulic rock breaker. This attachment is great for lifting and moving bigger objects when you don’t have a loader or just need some extra manpower. These can be used to move or remove bigger rocks, debris, and timber. They typically work through an auxiliary hydraulic circuit which enables the big claws to operate and safely move objects. Rock grabs are perfect for small to medium projects like landscaping, moving trees, and making walls. If you’re planning on incorporating any heavy stones in your landscape, don’t break your back trying to transport it – get this attachment.
Levelling or Spreader Bars
To make easy work out of spreading materials over a surface and levelling it out, attach spreader bars to any of Ryno Hire’s loaders. Our spreader bars range from 1.1 metres to 2 metres wide, so they are perfect for small to medium-sized grounds. They suit both posi-track and skid steer loaders too, so they can work on virtually any soil.
Concrete Sleeper Grabs
The concrete sleeper grab allows the safe and easy transportation of heavy materials like concrete sleepers, timber sleepers, and basically any other materials that fit between the grabber’s rubber-like pads. Moving concrete or timber sleepers is exhausting and tough on the body, so using an attachment is better for your own safety. When using this machine, it’s still a good idea to have an extra pair of hands and eyes to guide the sleepers. One great thing about the sleeper grab is that it can be used on any machine.
Hydraulic Chain Trenchers
These are used to cut trenches into the ground to make space for laying electrical cables, waterways or piping. Trenches can take multiple hours to dig, whereas a chain trencher attachment makes light work of digging narrow, precise and straight trenches. At this stage, the chain trencher attachment can only be used with our Bobcat 1.2 tonne & Kanga 1.0 tonne loaders, so plan your project beforehand to include one of these machines.
Hydraulic Tilt Buckets
Whilst excavators do come with a standard bucket feature, they are limited in some capacity. A standard bucket is great for digging, scooping and unloading materials, but can’t work well across uneven surfaces – that’s where the hydraulic tilt bucket comes in. This bucket provides the option of a 45-degree tilt on either side, making it great for digging into hills or uneven land. Overall, it can be used for backfilling, clearing land and loading materials across your work area. This attachment is specifically for excavators, so if you want to optimise the use of your excavator hire, try adding a tilt bucket.
Sieve Buckets
Sieve buckets look just like ordinary buckets, but with lots of little holes for material to fall through. You might be wondering what the use of this is? Well, If you’ve ever needed to quickly separate large rocks out of a lot of earth or water, then you would’ve needed this attachment. A sieve bucket makes quick work out of sorting through a large amount of soil for large rocks and stones. Currently, this is only suitable for Ryno Hire’s Kubota 1.7-tonne excavators. Also, as an added use, this attachment can transport any other attachments or bulky materials to save you time and effort. Nifty!
And a Bonus…
Loading Ramp
Ok, so this one isn’t necessarily an attachment, but it’s a helpful add-on to take advantage of when booking your equipment, particularly if you’re needing to transport our machines onto a trailer or truck or when you’re working across surfaces of varying levels. This feature also allows you to bypass stairs and holes and other obstacles that your machine can’t pass over easily. Loading ramps are available for different weights to cater to a wide variety of machines, so check that you’re getting the right one before you book.
